Who Is CashColorCannabis Founder Mehka King?
Mehka King is the founder and Creator of CashColorCannabis, a media platform amplifying Black voices in the cannabis industry. The brand began as a podcast in 2016 and has recorded over 300 episodes. In 2023, CashColorCannabis expanded its reach by launching a quarterly magazine, solidifying its role as a leading voice in cannabis culture.
Mehka started as a journalist in 2004 after graduating college, when he launched his own hip-hop news website, the now-defunct Lastwordonline.com. That start helped him land placements in XXL, SLAM magazine, Rolling Out, and several other outlets.
Now, his entire focus is making sure that Black voices in cannabis are amplified.

Mehka King's In-Studio Weedsday Playlist
For his Weedsday Playlist, Mehka King chose tracks that galvanize his grind. He says, “This playlist was inspired by one of the many playlists played in the studio before recording a new episode of the show or in the office when working on a new issue of the magazine. These five songs will fit perfectly into your next session.”
French Montana Featuring Curren$y - "So High"
“So High” was featured on French Montana’s mixtape Mac with the Cheese 2. Featuring Curren$y, it is the perfect song to complement any smoke sesh. This project emerged when French was making a lot of noise in NYC as an artist on the rise. Two years after this song was released, Montana went on to make the 2012 XXL Freshman list.

*Editor's Note: Did you know? Cannabis infusion master Chef Matt chose Snoop and Wiz Khalifa's "OG," featuring Curren$y, for his Weedsday Playlist. Check it out now!
De La Soul - "Breakadawn"
Released in 1993, “Breakadawn” is a track I play at least once a day. It is part of their critically-acclaimed third album, Buhloone Mindstate. This track samples Quincy Jones's “Quiet Storm” and Michael Jackson's “I Can’t Help It.” The track would land #1 on the European Dance Radio chart. This song makes me want to roll one up and play it a few times while listening to Posdnous and Trugoy's rap.

Quavo And Takeoff, "Hotel Lobby"
The last song to feature the late Takeoff, “Hotel Lobby,” was a collaboration between Take and his uncle Quavo. Going by the stage name Unc and Phew, the two would release their only album, Only Built for Infinity Linx, in 2022. The song stood out thanks to the production from Murda Beatz and a crazy visual in which the two reimagined the film Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas. Unfortunately, Takeoff would lose his life shortly after the release of the album.

Dr. Dre - "Let Me Ride"
If you had Dr. Dre’s classic solo LP The Chronic, this song had to be one of your favorite tracks. “Let Me Ride” samples George Clinton's “Swing Down Sweet Chariot (Let Me Ride).” The video follows Dre as he makes his way around Compton. The video and song are a perfect selection for when you find yourself smoking and riding.

Kendrick Lamar - "ADHD"
Kendrick has controlled most of the news cycle in 2024 thanks to his one-sided beef with Drake, but we can’t forget that he’s spent a better part of a decade delivering fantastic music. One of those tracks was “ADHD.” Featured on his album Section 80, everything from the production and lyrics to the visuals showcased an upcoming star who you could tell had the potential to become one of the biggest names in hip-hop. Throw this one light one up and get into this fantastic song.
