As the cannabis industry continues to evolve, it’s important we recognize the increasing rate of women within the community. Not only that, but we need to celebrate them — which makes perfect sense given the marijuana plant itself is female.

What Is Women Of Cannabis, GOAT Global And Visit Hollyweed's "A Night In Hollyweed"?

On Saturday, November 11th, the event production/women’s networking company Women of Cannabis, retailer GOAT Global and community-oriented media brand Visit Hollyweed joined forces to throw an epic event for the books. Aptly called A Night In Hollyweed, the slogan for evening was “The Flower is Female.” This was an evening to not only celebrate women in cannabis, but to provide a safe space for both men and women to come together and network within the community.

The event was originally supposed to take place at GOAT Global’s Westwood location, but with the amount of tickets sold, they outgrew the venue and had to shift to Station 1640 in the heart of Hollywood. Upon walking in, guests were immediately welcomed with nothing short of good vibes, including a table with fresh flowers for you to make your own bouquet to take home.

Women In Cannabis Celebrates Two Years Of Female-Forward Networking Events

Coincidentally, A Night in Hollyweed also marked the two-year anniversary of Women in Cannabis. For those who aren’t familiar, Women of Cannabis throws a series of events throughout California every year. The organization was originally started by three women, Katie Feurtado, Marissa Twichell, and Kailey Morgan, who decided to create a by-women, for-women event after MJBizcon in 2021. Of course, the overwhelming feedback was all positive, especially given the fact that cannabis has long been a male-dominated industry. In speaking about the event, Marissa Twichell stated, “We are just so appreciative of the people of our industry for showing up, showing out and vibing high with us.”

Katie Feurtado, co-founder of Women Of Cannabis and VP of edibles brand Big Pete’s Treats, stated, “We’re a women’s organization, we love bringing women together. Empowering them, uplifting them, helping them to get to the next position. The next step. Anything we can do to bring awareness to all the women in our industry. We’ve been hosting mixers where people can come together, meet new people. Maybe see their girlfriends they haven’t seen in a while. Just have a good time, celebrate life!”

Feurtado added, “Women lead the cannabis space, so it's very important. We need more of us.”

What Is Visit Hollyweed Founder Dan Wilson Saying About "A Night In Hollyweed"?

This is the second time that media company Visit Hollyweed has held the "A Night in Hollyweed" event. Founder Dan Wilson sought to partner with Women of Cannabis for his second event this year after writing an article about them. "I loved what Women of Cannabis were doing with creating events by women, for women. I saw a need to create a more female-friendly event in LA and working with them has been an amazing experience," Wilson said. Together, venue partner GOAT Global, Visit Hollyweed, and Women of Cannabis brought together top names in the cannabis space creating a night of reunion and celebration.

Which Brand Partners Participated In "A Night In Hollyweed"?

DJ Daria provided tunes for the evening along with performances by the beautiful female dancers of The Alchemists temple, surrounding the DJ booth. Sponsors such as Death Row Records, Your Highness, De La Bo, Zatix, Aapewoods, Gotti, THC Design, Pacific Sun, Torch, Big Pete's Treats, Rosin Tech Labs, 710 Labs, Papas Herb, Gealto, Kush Babes, Hood Eatz, and Queen Mary stole the show, while guests were treated to free fruit from L.A.Fruit Cart, endless weed, and even delicious THC-infused cookies!

It’s exciting to see with each event, the women to men ratio increasing. We hope to see it at 50/50 in the near future!
