Weedsday Playlist: Georgia Medical Cannabis Society Co-Founder Yolanda Bennett Shares 5 Songs For Your Next Smoke Sesh
Yolanda Bennett, also known as "The Herbal Trucker," is a passionate cannabis advocate, Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of the Georgia Medical Cannabis Society (GMCS), and one of the owners of the CannaShame Network.
Who Is Yolanda Bennett, "The Herbal Trucker"?
Through her work, Yolanda aims to educate and support communities about the benefits of medical cannabis while sharing her journey and insights as a truck driver and advocate. She was forced out of the logistics industry due to a medical condition and damage to her organs and skeletal system by prescribed pharmaceuticals. Cannabis freed her from these pharmaceuticals and her advocacy as The Herbal Trucker began. As a co-host of the CannaShame Podcast, powered by the CannaShame Network, she focuses on removing and destroying the stigma associated with the use of cannabis. Although Yolanda has entered the battle of freeing this plant, from the grasp of those who shamed and criminalized this tree of life, she has joined the fight to normalize this healing plant.
What Is The Georgia Medical Cannabis Society (GMCS)?
The Georgia Medical Cannabis Society, operating as a 501c3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization, recognized a critical need within the medical cannabis patient community. According to the group’s mission statement: “We identified the need to support indigent medical cannabis patients in obtaining essential medical cannabis oil, as the exorbitant costs of this healing remedy posed a significant challenge. In response to the federal legality constraints surrounding cannabis, we have refocused our mission on offering financial assistance to indigent patients rather than directly providing cannabis medications. Our guiding principle is ‘Patients Over Profits,’ and we are committed to educating the public about the myriad benefits of cannabis. Scientific research has consistently demonstrated its ability to combat cancer cells and treat a range of other ailments, positioning cannabis as a versatile and comprehensive healing solution.”
GMCS’s primary objective is to promote medical cannabis as a holistic approach to medical treatment. Under the banner of #CannaShame, its members have taken up the cause to eradicate the lingering stigma associated with cannabis use. They believe that cannabis stands as a healing, life-saving alternative where many pharmaceutical drugs have fallen short.
The Georgia Medical Cannabis Society is dedicated to ensuring that underserved communities, including but not limited to low-income individuals, veterans, people with disabilities, and previously incarcerated individuals, have equitable access to affordable medical cannabis and medical cannabis cards in full compliance with their respective state laws.
Yolanda Bennett's "Move Through The Hard Times" Weedsday Playlist
For Yolanda Bennett’s Weedsday Playlist, she selected tracks that allowed her to thrive amid challenges: "I listen to music that moves me physically and emotionally. Music is my inspiration to get through difficult and exciting times. I believe music is life, just like the cannabis plant is life. Together, they create the perfect combination for a fully balanced life, bringing understanding and harmony."
Clint Black - "Spend My Time"
As a truck driver, I spent a lot of time working and focusing on making money, thinking it could solve any problem. I neglected family and friends, believing financial success was all that mattered. This song reminds me that money will always be there, but the time spent with loved ones is precious and can disappear. It allows me to reflect on the importance of human connection over material wealth.

Luther Vandross And Gregory Hines - "There's Nothing Better Than Love"
This song speaks volumes about when I found my wife and how I feel about her. Despite all the stress and struggles, it reminds me to step back from advocacy to remember why and what I'm doing this for – my wife, who loves me and whom I love deeply. She brings me balance and keeps the real Yolanda grounded. We met on Match.com and have been married almost 10 years. This song constantly reminds me that I am more than just an advocate; I am human, and she brings out the best in me.
