What Makes Jamaica Frenzy A Special House Music Event?

“House music has transformed the entertainment landscape of the world," said liL Ray, "and it just makes sense to bring this fantastic music and way of partying to the beautiful paradise of Negril, Jamaica, where people love great music and a fantastic time. I was born in Jamaica and migrated to the USA and have always dreamed of the day I could bring the House music we do in New York City and around the world back to my birthplace. I am thrilled to be able to carry this legacy back to Jamaica.”

The event is produced by liL Ray in parternship with Negril's Hedonism II resort; Jamaica Frenzy has also been endorsed and sponsored by the Jamaican Tourism Board. Hedonism II is renowned for its liberating and open-minded atmosphere, making it a popular destination for those seeking a unique and adventurous experience. Having a 5-night, 6-day all-inclusive House music experience at Hedonism II is incredibly fun for those who enjoy a lively, uninhibited environment, allowing guests to let loose, dance to their heart's content, and socialize with like-minded individuals. Native to New York, Musclecars is a DJ / producer duo consisting of Brandon Weems and Craig Handfield. The duo’s desire to blend genres and express their appreciation for music is focused around community with the goal of bringing people together. Through a regular stream of high quality mixes, they have begun to turn heads in underground circles. In 2018, Weems and Handfield launched Coloring Lessons, a party aimed to add value to their city’s nightlife culture. While the party and sound is not genre specific, it’s heavily focused around House, disco, jazz, and soul, embracing the musical elements of their Black and brown ancestors. The monthly party's intention is to bring New York City's dance music scene back to what it was during the golden era of the city's nightlife. Musclecars aims to spread the music that has been influential to them, and share it with younger generations.

Donna Edwards

From Donna Edwards's first encounters with music mixing thanks to former neighbor, legendary DJ / promoter Don Welch (Sound Factory Bar/Underground Network), the artist was smitten with the idea of blending beats and rhythms to make people move. Encouraged by weekly family outings to Brooklyn’s revered Empire skating rink, Donna was influenced by innovative talents like Tee Scott and DJ Big Bob, who helped motivate her decision to learn the craft. Armed with that can-do attitude and a simple mobile set, Donna performed her first paying gig in a Queens, New York, bar in 1982. Fast forward to 2002, she stretched the boundaries of her fame with appearances at the 9th Annual Prospect Park Jamboree in September and in a prime time, 8-hour set at Club Shelter in December. Donna was the first woman ever to play at Club Shelter, Timmy Regisford and Freddy Sanon's underground haven for club goers. Her place in club lore is assured for her classic commitment to delivering a satisfying dance party. Donna spreads that New York City dance vibe touring under Shades of Dance NYC and her latest venture, Deccadance Records.
