At Mary Jane Berlin 2025, Royal Queen Seeds had a clear message: The future of cannabis cultivation lies in consistency, scalability, and long-term strategy. Speaking with Honeysuckle, Max Majot, the brand’s Technical Manager, broke down Royal Queen’s approach to genetics, its ongoing F1 hybrid program, and the reasoning behind the company’s recent collaboration with Mike Tyson.
“Seeds are something special,” Majot said. “They’re the technology that plants developed over millions of years to travel and move from one generation to another.” That philosophy underscores RQS’s focus on seeds as the foundation for every grower—whether professional or personal.
With a catalog of over 150 strains, Royal Queen Seeds services a broad range of customers. “We’ve got seeds for pretty much everyone,” Majot explained. “We deal with professional people that order 10,000 seeds, people that order 1,000 for pheno hunts, people that grow 100 plants for themselves or even out in the mountains. We have a very wide spectrum.”
F1 Hybrids: Toward Genetic Stability
One of the company’s central projects has been its F1 hybrid program, which began seven years ago. The goal? Achieving reliable, standardized genetics.
“With F1 hybrids, we can finally have seeds that will always be the same,” said Majot. “It gives growers something they can trust. If someone finds a strain they like, they can come back in two years, get the same seeds, and expect the same results.”
In a market often characterized by variability, especially among seed suppliers, Royal Queen is betting on consistency as a key value proposition for home and commercial growers alike.
Partnering with Mike Tyson
RQS also made headlines with its recent partnership with Mike Tyson. According to Majot, the decision was both strategic and value-based.
“Tyson was a very big decision—but Tyson is not everybody,” he noted. “We wanted someone who is transgenerational, and I think Mike actually does the extra mile for cannabis. He’s pro-legalization. People with that kind of strong view and impact are the ideal partners for Royal Queen Seeds.”
The collaboration is part of a broader push to align with figures who resonate across age groups and cultural boundaries, especially those who bring visibility and advocacy into the cannabis space.
Looking Forward
Majot emphasized that Royal Queen Seeds is thinking beyond current trends. “At RQS, we’re always looking toward the next day and the future,” he said. “That’s what drives our breeding programs, our partnerships, and the range of genetics we continue to expand.”
Whether working with large-scale cultivators or individual growers, the company sees the seed as more than just a product—it’s the foundation of trust in an evolving global cannabis economy.
