The nation’s longest-running cannabis advocacy organization is hosting its first cannabis-business oriented seminar in the history of its storied legal conference! On June 7-9, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) hosts its 2023 NORML Denver Legal Seminar, sponsored by the NORML Legal Committee. Featuring notable speakers from all over the country - including regulators, former legislators, business leaders, and attorneys - the intimate setting provides a unique opportunity to interact with and learn from some of America’s most esteemed cannabis counsel.

Held at the law firm of Holland & Hart, the NORML Denver Legal Seminar will bring renowned thought leaders under one roof to address crucial questions about the future of the cannabis industry. Prominent attorneys Rachel Gillette of Holland & Hart, Joseph A. Bondy of The Law Offices of Joseph A. Bondy, and Brian Vicente of Vicente LLP will moderate sessions throughout the three-day program, tackling cutting-edge issues impacting every aspect of the legal cannabis sector, from brand licensing to representing public companies, banking and tax policy, ethics, litigation trends, and more.

Former United States Representative, the Honorable Ed Perlmutter of Holland & Knight, will discuss the future of cannabis banking with Sahar Ayinehsazian of Vicente LLP. Perlmutter introduced the original legislation for the Secure and Fair Enforcement (SAFE) Banking Act into Congress, and will comment on the bill’s latest path in “Cannabis Banking: How It’s Done and What’s Left to Do.” East Coast versus West Coast state policies will be explored in the seminar’s regulatory update, featuring Shawn Hauser of Vicente LLP; Dominique Mendiola, Senior Director for Colorado’s Marijuana Enforcement Division; and Tremaine Wright, Chair of New York’s Cannabis Control Board.

Among the highlights of the program, Luke Zimmerman of Luke S. Zimmerman APC and Aaron Poledna of Perkins Coie LLP will discuss “Navigating Cannabis IP: Brand Licensing, Patents, and Trademark,” while David Feldman of Feldman Legal Advisors PLLC will present “Regulation A++: Alternative Ways To Go Public and To Raise Capital For Cannabis Companies.”

Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit is available for the 2023 NORML Denver Legal Seminar’s program, and non-lawyers are also encouraged to attend, as the conference offers a wonderful forum where professionals and members of the public can engage directly with national legal experts and industry innovators. Attendees will also enjoy extracurricular activities each day following the seminar, including a welcome reception, tours of state-licensed dispensaries and grow operations, and The NORML Foundation Benefit Dinner at Denver’s historic Marijuana Mansion.
