The holiday season is over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still be festive! Add some colour to your Covid Winter at the New York Botanical Garden this month before the new outdoor installation, GLOW, packs up.

The NYBG is bedecked with thousands of energy-efficient LED lights across its verdant grounds. You will be further dazzled by illuminated trees, ice carving, music and the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory as lights and colour splash across the centerpiece of the gardens.

It was very frosty the night I went, so be sure to dress for the weather. Thomas Brown, the ice carver from Okamoto Studio, who was hard at work on the beautiful sculpture, would wholeheartedly agree with that advice.

His hands looking like snow-covered mitts, he said that he was either sweating or freezing as he created his art.

Bring pocket warmers for Brown and the NYBG staff who are outside for many hours. They will definitely appreciate it!

Remaining dates are January 8, 9, 15 & 16
