Amid a contentious political climate, Zeke Thomas is ready to “Talk About It”—and he’s not alone. The “it” that the internationally-renowned DJ/producer and advocate means here is surviving sexual assault, which he experienced at ages 12 and 27. Now at age 36, as he watches corporations across the country decimate their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, Thomas stands at the forefront of a new movement for survivors to reclaim their essential human rights.

Zeke Thomas Re-Releases "Love Me Sober" And Launches TALK ABOUT IT Campaign For Healing From Trauma

For April - National Sexual Assault Survivors Month - the Emmy-nominated artist has rereleased his poignant single “Love Me Sober,” featuring Lé Art, and a trailblazing new video series entitled TALK ABOUT IT. The project underscores the urgency of continuing conversations around trauma, healing, and identity in a time when institutional support for such dialogues is rapidly disappearing.

Thomas, the son of NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas and the first male spokesperson for the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, is reclaiming space for survivors through this initiative. He brings together a diverse lineup of friends and collaborators—each lending their voice and lived experience to a candid conversation about survival, stigma, and hope—for TALK ABOUT IT

Who Are The Creatives Involved In Zeke Thomas's TALK ABOUT IT Campaign?

In the initial promo video, the participants discuss their journeys with truth, intimacy, identities as creatives, and much more. TALK ABOUT IT features notable figures including creative director and choreographer Laurieann Gibson (So You Think You Can Dance); celebrity hairstylist Cesar Ramirez (RuPaul’s Drag Race); celebrity hair and makeup artist Sarah Adams, activist and writer Adam Eli; model and influencer Cheyenne Parker (Ex On The Beach); designer Onch Movement; advocate Terri Woodson; and Grammy-winning producer and advocate Anthony Preston, all bringing their unique perspectives to this critical discussion. Together, they dismantle the silence and shame often surrounding sexual trauma, providing an affirming platform for stories that are too often pushed aside.

"Sexual violence awareness is a DEI issue that can't be separated from race, gender, and identity politics," says Thomas. "When people try to strip DEI initiatives from schools, workplaces, and public policies, they are also stripping away protections for survivors by pushing us into the shadows of the margins. They are making it harder for us to have these conversations, to push for justice, and to ensure that ALL survivors are supported."

Executive produced by Thomas alongside EJ Jamele, founder and CEO of crowdMGMT, and longtime collaborator Louie Torrellas (creator of the Emmy-winning Yankees On Deck), TALK ABOUT IT merges authenticity with world-class production. Jamele—whose brand and talent management firm has produced content for global brands such as VOGUE, Vanity Fair, and major networks—brings over 15 years of expertise and strategic vision as Thomas's manager and creative co-director to this crucial series.

Healing From Sexual Assault: Zeke Thomas Reimagines "Love Me Sober"

"I am here not just as an advocate, but as a survivor," Thomas explains. "Survivors deserve better. They deserve justice. They deserve safety. And they deserve to live in a world where their pain is not dismissed, politicized, or ignored."

The campaign’s emotional core lies in the reimagined single “Love Me Sober,” a track that blends raw, reflective lyrics with haunting house beats. It’s both a personal testimony and a universal anthem of survival, resilience, and self-love. Thomas channels the pain of his own experience into a powerful artistic statement meant to uplift others on their journey to healing.

What's Next For Zeke Thomas And Advocacy For Survivors?

Even as DEI programs face an uncertain future in 2025, Thomas remains committed to advocacy, working with leading organizations like the ACLU, GLAAD, and It’s On Us to push for inclusive, survivor-centered policies.

In a time of shrinking resources and growing cultural division, “Love Me Sober” and TALK ABOUT IT offer a confident and hopeful alternative: one where stories matter, healing is possible, and unconditional love leads the way. Ready or not, we need to talk.
