PAX Chases the Northern Lights With Limited-Edition Aurora Burst FOUR
PAX is taking its latest dry-herb vaporizer somewhere a little more colorful.
The cannabis hardware brand has launched Aurora Burst, the first limited-edition colorway for the PAX FOUR, wrapping the device in a turquoise-to-lime gradient inspired by the Aurora Borealis. The brushed aluminum finish gives the pocket-sized vaporizer an almost electric glow — part outdoor gear, part design object, and very much built for the kind of person who wants their smoking ritual to look as considered as everything else they carry.
But PAX is pitching Aurora Burst as more than a new paint job.
The release is built around what the company calls the “pursuit of wonder”: travel, exploration and the little moments that become the reason to go somewhere in the first place. Think the end of a hike, a campfire after dark, a last wave before sunset or the first time the Northern Lights actually show up overhead.
“Aurora Burst represents something that’s always been true for PAX. We’ve never believed cannabis should be the destination, it should simply make the journey more meaningful,” said Chris Ahern, CEO of PAX. “It’s part of the ritual that surrounds life’s best experiences—not the reason for them.”
That philosophy is being backed up with an actual trip. To mark the launch, PAX is running an Aurora Burst adventure sweepstakes offering one winner a $2,500 Under Canvas gift card, up to $1,500 toward airfare and a limited-edition Aurora Burst PAX FOUR. No purchase is necessary to enter.
Under the colorway is the same technology introduced with the PAX FOUR: a high-output hybrid heating system designed for dry herb, with four preset heat modes and patented temperature control. According to PAX, the FOUR produces 50 percent more vapor and heats faster than any previous PAX dry-herb device, allowing users to shift between shorter, more intense sessions and slower, sustained ones.
Unlike combustion, the device heats flower rather than burning it. PAX has also been leaning heavily into the science behind that distinction. In a study commissioned by the company, researchers found that vaporizing cannabis with a PAX device reduced exposure to certain harmful combustion byproducts — including benzene, formaldehyde and acetaldehyde — by as much as 99 percent compared with smoking a joint. As with any company-backed research, the findings are best understood in the context of the study itself, but they point toward PAX's broader effort to position vaporization as a more intentional way to consume flower.
And that may be where Aurora Burst makes the most sense.
PAX has spent years turning cannabis hardware into lifestyle hardware — devices that don’t necessarily announce themselves as paraphernalia. Aurora Burst pushes that idea further. The limited-edition PAX FOUR Aurora Burst is available now through PAX for $250 in the United States, C$350 in Canada, €230 in Europe and £198 in the United Kingdom, with European pricing varying by local VAT. The colorway will be available only while supplies last.
For those who prefer something quieter, PAX FOUR remains available year-round in Onyx and Greenstone alongside the company’s FLOW and MINI devices.
Aurora Burst, though, is aimed at the opposite instinct: the urge to go a little farther, look a little longer and make the ritual part of the story.
