For those who love bubbly drinks and cannabis, California is the place to go courtesy of Pabst Labs. The newest brand under the umbrella of beer giant Pabst Brewing Company (makers of Pabst Blue Ribbon), Pabst Labs is a financially independent entity, a licensed cannabis operator producing some revolutionary beverages sure to give consumers, as their tagline reads, a different kind of buzz.

Their Pabst Blue Ribbon Cannabis-Infused Seltzer, also known as High Seltzer and launched in October 2020, is a non-alcoholic lemon seltzer infused with 5 milligrams of THC in each 12-ounce can. It’s been picking up fans quickly, with canna-curious novices and experienced cannabis users alike thrilling to the fresh taste. (And at just 25 calories and 4 grams of sugar per serving, this seltzer is an excellent choice for the health-conscious.) So far influencers such as DJ innovator Four Color Zack and the creative collective Pizzaboyzzz have spread the word to their fans about how much they enjoy this high-making drink.

This week, Pabst Labs launched an expanded line of High Seltzer, which boosts the great experience of the original version by incorporating 10 milligrams (twice the THC content) into the beverages. At 10 milligrams, PBR High Seltzer is more potent than before, and comes in three new flavors in addition to classic Lemon: Consumers can refresh themselves with Mango, Raspberry, or Strawberry Kiwi too, all of which hit shelves this summer.

“Since the debut of PBR High Seltzer, more experienced consumers have been outspoken about their desire for a higher THC dose offering,” says Pabst Labs Brand Manager Mark Faicol. “We’ve been listening and are proud to offer an elevated experience through our new 10mg THC PBR High Seltzer, and are ecstatic to offer it to them at the same price point alongside the original 5mg Lemon High Seltzer.”

If you’ve had bad experiences with edibles, never fear. The Pabst Labs team states, “Because PBR Cannabis-Infused Seltzer is a liquid, it’s absorbed into your body much faster than a traditional edible. Beverages are also a more natural way to consume cannabis, which will allow you to manage dosing to help you find your perfect buzz.”

Currently, due to legal regulations on the sale and shipping of cannabis products, only Californians living in Los Angeles, Sacramento, Humboldt County, and the San Francisco Bay Area can order PBR High Seltzer directly. Consumers seeking to try the beverage can also visit licensed dispensary partners in select California locations including local boutique retailers and larger chains (MedMen, Cookies, etc) alike. Some shops are carrying the 10mg Lemon High Seltzer already, so be sure to ask your local dispensary or visit PabstLabs.com for store locators and to order online.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Just this month, Pabst Labs announced a collaboration with the leading terpene-infused spirits manufacturer Tinley Beverage Company to produce a non-alcoholic, cannabis-tinged version of PBR’s popular “Not Your Father’s Root Beer.” The original “Not Your Father’s” is a craft hard root beer that became a national sensation since its introduction in 2015, ultimately labeled one of the top-selling craft beers of all time. A cannabis-infused iteration of “Not Your Father’s” will be produced in Tinley’s Long Beach facility with Pabst Labs, and will contain a 10-milligram dose of THC in a 12-ounce bottle. As with the Cannabis-Infused Seltzer, the new “Not Your Father’s” will initially be available only in California.

Pabst Labs will be joining forces with Tinley to develop additional products for its portfolio, a move that’s delighting all involved. “Our team at Pabst Labs has always prioritized taste and experience in our beverages,” notes Faicol. “Introducing ‘Not Your Father’s Root Beer’ to cannabis consumers in California is a welcome expansion of our growing family of brands… [We’re] proud to offer [it] as a fast-acting social and hangover-free experience.”

Rick Gillis, president of Tinley’s Western USA, comments: “Pabst Labs has emerged as a forward-thinking beverage leader, extending strong mainstream brands into the growing cannabis beverage category. These quality brands offer new options to consumers who are increasingly choosing cannabis.”

Thanks to the brilliant minds at Pabst Labs, consumers have cleaner, quicker, and more enjoyable ways to lift their spirits. We can all drink to that.
