KFC Debuts Saucy Nuggets Dispensary On 420 Weekend In Venice Beach, California

Let’s be honest, fast food and cannabis go hand in hand.

What Are KFC's Saucy Nuggets?

This month, KFC debuted their new Saucy Nuggets in five dripping flavors, available at the fast food chain’s locations all over the world. If you’re a fan of chicken nuggets, then you’re probably a fan of sauces as well. Fans across the States quickly chimed in all over social media on what flavor they liked best: Honey Sriracha, Korean BBQ, Sticky Chicky Sweet ‘n Sour, Nashville Hot, or Georgia Gold.

KFC Launches Saucy Nuggets Dispensary On 420 Weekend

Now, to celebrate this exciting new menu item, KFC took advantage of the 420 holiday by taking the nuggets to a “higher” level with a KFC Saucy Nuggets Dispensary in Los Angeles. This exciting concept was to replicate the experience of a cannabis consumer entering a dispensary in search of their favorite flower. Only this time, they’re on a quest to find their favorite sauced nugget!

Honeysuckle had the pleasure of attending the media/influencer preview of the exciting event, one day prior to the doors being open to the public on 4/20. Located at 1306 Abbot Kinney Blvd, the hard-to-miss white and red pop-up stood out boldly on the busy street, naturally igniting the curiosity of passersby.

Comedian Ian Fujimoto On KFC's Saucy Nuggets Dispensary

Upon walking inside, you were first greeted by comedian Ian Fujimoto at the first display, which featured all of KFC’s original 11 herbs and spices. Of course, this is part of their Original Recipe, so the actual herbs and spices were kept secret and confidential (contained in blacked out containers). You could, however, smell each one, which ensued instant nostalgia. Who didn’t grow up eating KFC?!

Fujimoto, who’s also a food content creator whose videos have garnered over 6 million likes on Tik Tok, states, “It's incredible to be here, because if you're talking about that kind of culture, it's really interesting the attention to detail they have. KFC is really focused on having that same attention to detail that others do when they're really passionate about something. When you come to the nuggets in the sauces and the sauces, there was a huge attention to detail in crafting the sauces and making sure that those flavors were balanced and level, and were enjoyable."

What Was The Experience Like At KFC's Saucy Nuggets Dispensary?

The excitement surrounded the fact that all the sauced nuggets were coated around the original nuggets. The next stop was the five various stations dedicated to each sauce, which not only educated attendees, but fully encapsulated what went behind the making of that specific sauce.

The real treat came at the end, where you could actually try all the different flavors.

Comedian Niles Abston On KFC's Saucy Nuggets Dispensary

In the back patio was comedian Niles Abston (known for his work on FX’s Dave among other projects), who states, “It’s honestly an honor to be here. To be a part of a 420 event unofficially is really cool. I really think what they're doing is great, giving people options with different flavors. Because when you're super high, it's always like… I don't know. But when you have five and you know they're really good, you can get all five. Then whatever ones you don't eat, your friends can eat, because y’all get high together.  This is a perfect coupling with 4/20: chicken nuggets.”

No Cannabis At KFC's Saucy Nuggets Dispensary

One thing that was immediately apparent is the fact there’s no real cannabis present here.

“Why not?” Abston continues. “I don't understand why other fast food places don't. We all know that’s what we're doing late at night after we smoke. Why not take advantage of that? Doing something like saucy chicken nuggets is perfect. I’m too high, I don't want to make something. I don't want to use my fork. I’ma grab some chicken nuggets, it's perfect. Great marketing idea. Great marketing strategy. I know people are gonna love it.”

Additionally, guests were gifted free merch, and free drinks on the outside patio. Saucy Nuggets will only be around for the month of May… so catch them while you can!

KFC Saucy Nuggets are now available for a limited time at KFC locations around the United States.
