The Green Standard Alliance: Giving New York’s Cannabis Consumers a Voice
As New York’s cannabis industry takes shape, a new movement is stepping forward to make sure consumers—not just producers and policymakers—have a seat at the table. The Green Standard Alliance (GSA) is a newly formed nonprofit dedicated to protecting, empowering, and educating cannabis consumers across the state.
A New Era of Accountability and Transparency
The cannabis market is evolving rapidly in New York, and with that growth comes the need for transparency, safety, and fair access. GSA is building a statewide network that champions exactly that—working to ensure every consumer understands what’s in their products, how they’re made, and who’s behind them.
From product labeling alerts to consumer education programs, the organization is developing tools and resources to help people make informed choices. Their advocacy work also aims to influence policy so that regulations reflect real-world consumer needs, not just corporate interests.
“Consumers are the foundation of this industry,” says Herb Barbot, GSA’s Board Chairman. “They deserve to know that what they’re consuming is safe, tested, and accurately represented. Our mission is to give them a voice—and a seat at every table where decisions are made.”
Building a Community That Sets a Higher Standard
Membership in the Green Standard Alliance is free, reinforcing the group’s belief that while joining costs nothing, the voices of cannabis consumers are priceless. By uniting everyday consumers, patient advocates, and responsible operators, GSA is working to create a more transparent, equitable marketplace for everyone involved.
Through outreach, public education, and collaboration with industry partners, GSA hopes to raise the bar for what a modern cannabis experience should be—safe, ethical, and inclusive.
A Shared Mission with New York’s Cannabis Culture
At Honeysuckle, we’ve always believed in amplifying stories that shape the heart of cannabis culture. The Green Standard Alliance’s mission resonates with that vision: creating space for truth, accountability, and community in a fast-changing landscape.
