In the world of concentrates and extraction, there's a constant quest for the next big thing — a breakthrough moment that turns a good product into something exceptional. This journey is one of trial, error, and constant learning, but it all started with a simple yet game-changing discovery in the world of concentrate production. As always, somehow Nick Bryan of Golden State Banana was there.
It was a typical day in the lab, with Matt, the Sauce Boss and his team deep in the process of making the concentrate and jarring flower. “We were putting it in the oven, watching it closely,” the Nick recalled. The oven is crucial in this process, as it helps the concentrate reach its optimal consistency without overcooking it. Nick yelled, “take it out of the oven, don’t overcook it,” It’s a delicate dance—too long in the oven, and the product would lose its terps, too short, and it wouldn’t reach the desired consistency. The goal was always to keep it “wet,” a term used to describe the concentrate’s sticky, gooey sugar-like texture.
Then came the crucial moment in the process — putting the product on racks. With four or five racks stacked with concentrate, everything seemed like it was going according to plan. The parchment was key, as it allowed them to easily handle the concentrate without it sticking to surfaces.
But then came the unexpected. After running out of rack space Nike, “I’m like, dude, scrape it off the parchment. Put it in the jars, put it in the safe.” So, they let the jars sit, tucked away for a week or two. When they finally came back to check on them, they were in for a game changing surprise.
Looking at the jars, it was clear that something had changed. The concentrate had “separated.” At the top, there was a layer of terpenes, and at the bottom, DIAMONDS—pure crystalline structures that had grown naturally in the concentrate. The revelation hit them: "Oh my God, that’s what it is." The concentrate had formed diamonds, due to the pressure of the remnant gas in the wet sugar, squeezing the jar contents.
This unexpected moment of discovery in 2016 marked the beginning of a new era in concentrate production: Diamonds.
Fast forward to today, and the impact of those early days can be seen in the explosive growth of brands like Synergy, Golden State Banana and New York's Blotter. Recently, Synergy, in collaboration with Nick Bryan, activated with a series of fresh products at the iconic Torches NYC. The launch was a true celebration of their hard work and innovation, with the staff sporting custom hoodies to commemorate the occasion. To sweeten the deal, they handed out Capri Suns and banana wafer pudding, giving attendees the ultimate nostalgic treat.
It’s a perfect reflection of the vibe and culture that’s now at the heart of the scene. Big moves, big launches, and big vibes. With every new drop, there’s a sense of excitement, not only for the quality of the product but for the community and the culture that’s being built around it.
As for the future? Well, this is just the beginning. The journey started with a small tweak in the process, and now it’s evolving into something much bling-ier. For fans and connoisseurs alike, there’s a lot to look forward to. So stay tuned, the future is shining bright like a diamond!
