Who Is AlpinStash Founder Danny Murr-Sloat?
Born in Boulder, Danny grew up enjoying the great outdoors, but began suffering from chronic stomach pains in his early 20s. Despite several extended hospitalizations, doctors were unable to deliver a correct diagnosis and began treating him with increasingly heavy doses of opiate pain medications. Further complications included thoracic outlet syndrome and a non-cancerous brain tumor, both of which required surgeries to fix and ever-growing doses of medications. By 2009, he was on 19 different prescription medications, disengaged with life, becoming overweight and falling deeper into depression. Upon the urging of his father, he got his first medical cannabis card in December of that year.
Shortly after beginning this plant-based treatment, Danny's life began to change rapidly. Growing cannabis became the reason for him to get out of bed and gave him the drive to improve his health and life. By mid-2010, he had lost 70 pounds and weaned himself off of pain medications completely. By 2024, Danny has amassed 14 years of experience across the U.S. and Canada, developing his own proprietary genetics and consulting with some of the largest cultivations in the industry. Danny credits using and growing cannabis with saving his life and seeks to give back as much as he can to this amazing plant.

Danny Murr-Sloat's "In The Flow" Weedsday Playlist
For his Weedsday Playlist, Danny Murr-Sloat encourages listeners to flow from genre to genre: “My music tastes, like my cannabis tastes can be all over the place. With a focus on friends, nostalgia, parenthood, positive energy, and rock, I hope this list inspires you to embrace the things in life that bring you happiness, get you into that flow state, and gives you a feeling of accomplishment.”
Vonnie Kyle - "Something More"
I love female fronted rock, and I love my friends. So when a good friend happens to be an amazing rock artist with a phenomenal voice who makes great music… Well, it's just fantastic. In addition to all of this, Vonnie makes awesome bongs out of vintage thrifted glass, which can be found via IG @holladayglass. Vonnie’s music pairs well with anything, but I enjoy smoking a sativa-hybrid like Cookie Confundo while listening. This cultivar gets me lost in whatever I am doing, and helps me feel such immense gratitude for the people in my life. Friends are everything.

The Mysterines - "In My Head"
As stated above, I love a female fronted rock band and this song grabbed me from the opening notes. It literally reached right out and sucked me in. It represents everything I look for in a song when I’m ready to groove. It’s dark, dirty, grungy, and inspires a flow state, exactly the vibe I had in mind when I was creating Orange Obliviate. If you can’t find this specific cultivar to ingest, get your hands on a purple, funky indica-hybrid and rock.

Alt-J - "Fitzpleasure"
I first heard this tune while working at my local indoor gardening store in 2012. At first, I found the vocals silly and tough to groove with. Because I loved the music, I decided to sit down, get lit and see where things went. I remember that I smoked one of my favorite and oldest creations, Lemmiwinks. This indica-hybrid smells and tastes like grape Skittles and really packs a punch. As I exhaled, I became lost in the picture that Alt-J paints with their intelligent lyrics, grooves and unique vocal stylings, which turns out, I actually truly love. Needless to say, they became one of my all time favorite bands.

Punk Rock Factory - "Surface Pressure"
I’m a dad to two kids under five, so I live and die by my ability to find music we all can get into. Enter Punk Rock Factory. I love punk covers and my kids love Disney songs (okay, so do I). When I discovered this band, it brought me closer with my kids. Now, I rock out to this band on my own and they are a feature on my personal playlist. And c’mon, a great punk cover of a Lin-Manuel Miranda song… Get a hybrid in ya and enjoy. This song (and band) pairs particularly well with the AlpinStash Original Emperor’s Breath. It’s funky, slightly offensive (thanks to its Thanksgiving dinner terpenes with onions as the focal point), and will leave you with a smile. Parents, you’re welcome.

At The Drive-In - "One-Armed Scissor"
This song is a straight up banger which sucked me in the first time I heard it over twenty years ago. For me, like many, At the Drive-In was seminal in the evolution of my musical tastes. The abstract and poetic lyrics combined with their energy and hardcore edge ticks so many boxes of what moves me musically. This is sativa-hybrid music — creative, energetic, abstract, and nostalgic. I find this pairs incredibly well with Platinum Tiger Cookies, a true sativa-hybrid workhorse, and nostalgic for me as it’s one of the first crosses I ever made.
