Cannabis and wellness go hand in hand.

Shaka Smith's Wander Well Retreat In The Hollywood Hills: Yoga, Puppies, And More

On Friday, August 23rd, Shaka Smith hosted his Wander Well retreat in the beautiful Hollywood Hills. Kicking off in the early afternoon, the invite-only event started with meridian activation (an exercise focusing on stimulating the body’s acupoints) and hatha yoga. Attendees were able to bring their own yoga mats and participate on the patio. Right on the other side was a playpen of adorable puppies from Pups Without Borders, all available for adoption.

Who Is Shaka Smith And What Is Wander Well?

For those who aren’t familiar, Shaka Smith is an actor, host, fitness model, lawyer, and owner of his own lifestyle brand called Wander Well. Wander Well is best known for its podcast that explores the whole life journey, focusing on veganism, fitness, and self-improvement.

Speaking on Wander Well, Shaka states, “I want it to be my version of Martha Stewart Living, because she does everything. She’s into everything. We don't really have that in the Black community, so I wanted to be that essentially. I started the website, the podcast is built around that. On the podcast, I'll interview people that have done life well.”

Guests on the podcast include Emmy winner Tabitha Brown, Grammy winner Leon Thomas, and NBA legend John Salley. The purpose of Shaka’s Wander Well retreats is to continue to build a vision, promoting self-care so that attendees can in turn give to other people.

Which Brands Sponsored Wander Well's Hollywood Hills Retreat?

Sponsors for the event included Muha Meds, a Los Angeles-based cannabis brand that’s best known for their top quality vapes, though they have since expanded into all categories. Dialed Moods, a new brand of energy drinks, capsules, gummies, and powders that are infused with Kratom, also had a strong presence at the event. Kratom comes from an ancient Southeast Asian plant that was used as herbal medicine.

Pre-rolls throughout the day were provided by Muha Meds and Substance USA, a brand that works to raise awareness of racial justice by donating $8.46 per pack to organizations seeking to end mass incarceration.

What Is Wander Well's Message For Mindfulness?

Ultimately, Wander Well reminds you to appreciate the present moment in life, versus always chasing the next “win.” From Shaka’s personal experience, he’s trying to break the cycle of always feeling like a hamster running on a wheel. Rather, it’s about “wandering well” throughout life.
