Malibu's very own Shwayze is back with a hot new single and music video that's bound to turn heads. The track, titled "Smoke Too Soon," features a standout collaboration with Pittsburgh rap superstar Wiz Khalifa. This latest release is a tantalizing blend of alternative rap and reggae, perfectly encapsulating Shwayze's signature Cali vibes. The music video, directed by Nicholas Jandora, is set in the quirky and nostalgic backdrop of KH Cinnamon Donuts in Los Angeles and features cameos from GaTa and Bryce Vine, adding to the star-studded affair.
Shwayze, known for his iconic hits "Corona & Lime" and "Buzzin'," has been making waves in the alternative/indie pop and alt-rap scenes since his explosive debut in 2008. The new single "Smoke Too Soon" is the fourth track released from his forthcoming album, 'Shwaycation,' which is set to drop on September 13th via Ineffable Records. Shwayze describes the track as "Cali Reggae with hip hop combining both genres effortlessly. Feel good vibes only."
In a recent statement, Shwayze expressed his excitement about the collaboration with Wiz Khalifa, saying, “Wiz and I have crossed paths for years. I sent him a few demos, and he sent me his vocals within a few hours. Glad we could finally make this collab happen.” This kind of synergy highlights Shwayze’s knack for merging different genres and creating music that resonates with a wide audience.
The single "Smoke Too Soon" continues Shwayze's tradition of crafting laid-back, feel-good music. He notes, “Shwaycation, my 8th studio album, drops on September 13th, and I truly believe it's my best work yet. Collaborating with Wiz and GaTa on the music video for 'Smoke Too Soon' was an incredible experience. I'm thankful for the continued support that allows me to share my passion for music."
But Shwayze isn’t stopping there. On August 16th, he also released a new single titled "West Coast," featuring Polynesian reggae heavyweights Common Kings and Trinidad & Tobago's premier artist Kes. This breezy, upbeat track celebrates the allure and charm of the West Coast, capturing the essence of the sun-soaked lifestyle that has made Southern California a dream destination for so many. Raised on the beaches of Southern California, Shwayze, whose real name is Aaron Smith, has a deep connection to the West Coast lifestyle he so often celebrates in his music. His debut album, 'Buzzin,' released in 2008 with producer Cisco Adler, catapulted him into the limelight. Known for his energetic performances and catchy lyrics about Hollywood’s wild side, Shwayze and Adler took their show on the Vans Warped Tour, bringing their unique sound and high-energy performances to fans across the country.
Since then, Shwayze has continued to evolve his sound, releasing several independent albums through his Feel Good Entertainment Music label. His recent single, "Single for the Summer," featuring Bryce Vine, is a perfect example of his ability to blend different genres while keeping his sound fresh and engaging. This track serves as the third single from his upcoming album, 'Shwaycation,' which promises to solidify his place in the Cali reggae scene.
'Shwaycation' is shaping up to be a major release, following the success of his 2022 album, 'Shway SZN,' which featured hits like "Too Late" ft. Dirty Heads and "Tides" ft. Slightly Stoopid & Pepper. The new album will feature collaborations with a host of artists, including Wiz Khalifa, Bryce Vine, Kes, Common Kings, The Elovaters, and Ripe.
Beyond his music career, Shwayze has been making waves in the acting world, with recurring roles on popular TV shows like "Abbott Elementary" and "Lincoln Lawyer." As he gears up for his 21-date headlining Permanent Shwaycation Tour, which kicks off in October, Shwayze is set to bring his dynamic performances and infectious energy to audiences across the country.
With his unique blend of alternative pop, rap, and reggae, Shwayze continues to push boundaries and deliver music that not only entertains but also resonates with fans on a personal level. The release of 'Shwaycation' and his exciting new singles are sure to keep the momentum going as Shwayze cements his place in the music industry.
