Nothing But Fire Hosts "Nothing But Toys" Holiday Toy Drive, Giving Back To Underprivileged Kids
When Nothing But Fire has an event, you go.
Not only have they positioned themselves to be one of the premier destinations in the cannabis community, but it’s their desire to spread love and give back to those who are in need that resonates the most.
Nothing But Fire Gives Back With "Nothing But Toys" Holiday Toy Drive In Los Angeles
Piggybacking off their previous event a few months back, this time, Nothing But Fire hosted their highly-anticipated toy drive in Los Angeles. Just in time for the holidays, the event was aptly titled Nothing But Toys, taking over the cannabis-friendly Station1640 in the center of Hollywood, California.
In order to enter, guests had to bring an unwrapped toy or $40. Either way, that toy or money is going to a great cause, with all the toys and proceeds going directly to the Pools of Hope in Long Beach, a nonprofit organization providing life-changing therapeutic aquatic and wellness programs to the community.
Nothing But Fire Founder Mikey Kush Explains The Mission Of The Nothing But Toys Drive
Nothing But Fire founder Mikey Kush is the brains behind the operation, oftentimes spending 14 hours minimum onsite preparing for the show. And one thing about Mikey, he’s not taking no for an answer. He reminds us that apparently in the cannabis world, you’re not allowed to donate products with cannabis.
He states, “If we have stuff that’s cannabis, they don't accept your gifts. So I bypassed everyone like ‘Fuck you, I'll give them to the families directly, watch.’ A lot of stuff I do is like that. It's always: Watch me. Oh, you can't throw a cannabis competition? Watch me. Can't do this, watch me. I grew up poor. I remember not having gifts. Show up to school like ‘This sucks, I only got one pair of shoes.’ At least I got a pair of shoes, but we didn't get any toys.”
He continues, “It’s one of the things: ‘Why can't we get back and say fuck it?’And it snowballed. They're like ‘Oh, if you don't give away the toys and record it, no one's gonna believe you.’
What? Oh yeah, watch this. So the mayor’s coming out, Congressman's coming out. City Council is coming out, the Board of the Aquatic Center’s coming out. We're giving out all the toys, it's going to be dope. And we're giving out Christmas trees!”
What Happened At Nothing But Toys?
This Friday evening served as an opportunity to collect all the toys and donations, as Mikey planned to give them to the kids that next morning. This isn’t about capturing a photo or video, this is about truly living in the moment and showing how generosity can make a significant impact.
One thing you can guarantee at Nothing But Fire is in its name: nothing but fire. Only the best of the best brands in the cannabis industry set up here, including The Standard Cannabis, Originals, Presidential, Royal Blunts, Apple Monkey, and more.
The evening ended with fresh doughnuts, standup comedians, and a silent disco. Mayor Rex Richardson of Long Beach even joined the proceedings. But most importantly, they got a lot of toys. Mikey’s passion and desire to help underprivileged kids reminds us all of the real meaning behind Christmas: the Power of Giving!
