Sister Nancy, who’s been a reggae powerhouse since her iconic 1982 hit “Bam Bam,” brings her signature voice and wisdom to this collaboration. “Education is the key, you must understand,” she proclaims in the track. Recorded across studios in Iceland, New Jersey, and Jamaica, this global collaboration enriches its core message.
Produced by Nathan Sabanayagam and co-produced by bassist Nate Edgar, "Teach The Youths" boasts an impressive lineup of musical talent. The track features contributions from reggae legends like Earl "Chinna" Smith and Andy Bassford on guitar, Cameron Greenlee on keys, and Alex Beram on Akete, creating a rich sonic experience that perfectly complements Sister Nancy’s powerful vocals.
Nathan Sabanayagam, founder of Naya Records, shared, “Working with Sister Nancy on this track has been a highlight in my career.” The final mix was crafted at Tuff Gong Studios by seasoned engineers Stephen Stewart and Michael “Boxy” Howell, ensuring an authentic reggae sound.
The track was recently showcased live at the Charlemont Reggae Festival, where Sabanayagam reflected on the experience: “Performing the song live was a full-circle moment for me as a producer.”
