Five of SwordsThe year may start out on a rather bumpy note. Stormy days are ahead and friction is in the air. Deceptions may be revealed – which means you’ll want to err on the side of caution in all of your undertakings. Stay alert for signs of trouble and you may avoid the brunt of the drama that this card hints at. However, if you are the one who is using duplicitous means to achieve your ends, you may achieve a hollow victory. If that happens, enjoy it while it lasts… because it won’t. Any dishonesty used will eventually be revealed for all to see and the effort will be for naught. Best plan of action: remain absolutely straightforward in all of your endeavors. The Five of Swords also indicates unfair competition in the workplace. Someone with a questionable advantage may use that to further their gains. This could lead to discord or loss for anyone involved with this person. If you sense someone at work is playing dirty politics, do not be afraid to blow that whistle. This will require great courage but it’s the only way. Unethical things need to be exposed, even if it feels risky to do so.In matters of the heart, this card warns of a love triangle gone bad or a relationship that falls apart due to dishonesty. Tears may be shed but once the storm passes, there will be a chance to start anew. Sometimes we need to go through the pain in order to finally say “enough.” This month brings a situation to a head, but it also leaves room for healing and fresh starts. Set boundaries high and do not lower your standards. If someone pulls a maneuver or doesn’t respect you enough to be honest, be ready to cut that cord and set yourself free.–Theresa Reed (aka “The Tarot Lady”) has been a full-time Tarot card reader for close to 30 years.
