Feel right at home this 420 with Housing Works Cannabis Co (HWCC)! The trailblazing retailer is making milestones again. From its historic turn as New York’s first adult-use dispensary, to a new spin on the cannabis industry’s most celebratory week, come experience HWCC’s inaugural Cannathon, a series of plant-inspired events to honor the “holidaze”!

What Is Housing Works Cannabis Co's First Annual Cannathon?

Running Sunday, April 14th through Saturday, April 20th, HWCC will offer a program full of in-store activations, community events, and giveaways. Banding together with multiple innovative cannabis brands and industry pioneers, the Cannathon is sure to light up Manhattan from the dispensary’s location at 750 Broadway to far, far beyond.

As always, the retailer operates with the multitiered advocacy mission that powers all of Housing Works. One of New York’s longest-running nonprofits, Housing Works is recognized for its in-depth work providing housing, healthcare and other resources for people living with HIV and AIDS. The organization offers access to various impact programs including primary care, behavioral health and substance use counseling, legal services, and the Ready for Work initiative that empowers New Yorkers with chronic illnesses to jumpstart their careers. Both Housing Works and HWCC also employ many of their own constituents.

If you’re psyched about the wonders of HWCC’s first annual Cannathon, here’s what you can look forward to!

First Annual Advocacy Day: Pleasure Activism March Honoring Housing Works Co-Founder Keith Cylar

When: Thursday, April 18th, 4-6PM

Where: Tompkins Square Park, East 10th Street, New York City

Honeysuckle is proud to co-host this first-of-its-kind Advocacy Day event with HWCC and High Exposure Agency, honoring the legacy of Housing Works co-founder Keith Cylar. Described by the National Harm Reduction Coalition as “agitator, activist, person who used drugs, community organizer, investigator, therapist, and fearless warrior,” Cylar was a fierce advocate who uplifted the voices and experiences of people from underserved communities. At Housing Works, he notably helmed powerful harm reduction strategies that encouraged the organization’s constituents to get involved in establishing programs designed to serve them. He committed himself to “pleasure activism,” a term he coined to describe a feel-good approach to transforming society and making the world a better place.

On Thursday April 18th, we join Housing Works and friends in a celebration of life for Cylar. Starting at 4PM, participants will gather at Temperance Fountain in Tompkins Square Park and march to Uplift Community, Destigmatize Cannabis, and Prioritize Pleasure. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes and bring artwork to celebrate the community that Cylar created. The march will conclude at Washington Square Park.

FREE TO ATTEND! Please RSVP through Eventbrite here.

And for the entire month of April, customers visiting HWCC can enjoy a free cup of Think Coffee Sunday to Thursday. Like Housing Works, Think Coffee is also dedicated to the public good. The company donates proceeds from each cup sold to projects that help establish fair wages for farmworkers, clean water programs, and housing solutions among others.
